Bridging the gap between engineered and native tissues

Working at the interface of biology, chemistry, and technology, the Lindberg lab is in pursuit of a blueprint to bridge the gap between engineered and native musculoskeletal tissues.

The development of smart chemical and biological toolkits for biofabrication provides a starting point for robust in vitro models and organoids. A key focusing is to engineer constructs with sufficient tissue quality that further replicates the native 3D organization of both healthy and diseased tissues. This provides a stepping-stone between the laboratory and clinic that can account for patient variability as well as highly inflammatory environments when developing new musculoskeletal treatments.
